Twitter Speaks on the Change in Policy to Lists
In the help centre post linked to in the tweet, Twitter said “Twitter strives to provide an environment where people can feel free to express themselves. If abusive behaviour happens, we want to make it easy for people to report it to us. Multiple tweets or lists can be included in the same report, helping us gain better context while investigating the issues to get them resolved faster.”
How to Report a List
Here’s how to report a list on Twitter
- Navigate to the Tweet or List you’d like to report on twitter.com or from the Twitter for iOS or Android app.
- Click or tap the icon.
- Select Report.
- Select It’s abusive or harmful.
- Next, they will ask you to provide more information about the issue you’re reporting.
- Once you’ve submitted your report, they will send you an email confirming receipt and provide recommendations for additional actions you can take to improve your Twitter experience.
Twitter Lists have been abused for years, as they became another way to target and harass people particularly women and other minority groups. They were particularly useful as a way to avoid being banned for abusive tweets, as the social network took no notice of Lists. Now they have rectified the loophole and many users are commending the social network for the latest update.
