Amazon has further established its direction of growth in the grocery sector with its recent launch. The online retailer recently added its own-label product line with its first spirit brand. The spirit brand is called Tovess Gin and it will be strictly distributed in the UK for now. With the launch of its own premium gin, the online retailer is trying to diversify its offering.
Tovess is Amazon’s first-ever premium gin. It is listed as a premium single batch crafted dry gin and will sell for £24.99 ($32.32) for a 70cl bottle. Tovess is produced at a distillery on the outskirts of Birmingham in the U.K. The premium gin has been available on the retailer’s website since 20 September. The product page for the premium gin promotes it as a “summer drink” or for “any time of year”. It is also described as a ‘smooth Mediterranean taste’ for fans of the distilled alcoholic drink. The promotional text on the site states that the gin has been produced in 18th-century copper stills, named MacKay, Angela, Constance and Jenny.
For people who wish to try the Birmingham-produced beverage, they will need to show proof of age upon delivery. After the launch of the gin, the online retail giants have pledged to grow its offerings with more great products like Tovess.
More on Amazon
In recent years, Amazon has been expanding its own range of goods. Its own range of goods can be found to be listed under “Our Brands”. The goods under “Our Brands” are created by Amazon or its partners. These goods are also sold exclusively on the Amazon site. By expanding its own range of goods, the online retail giants are benefiting from better margins. They are also benefiting because it can be used to help persuade big brands to cut prices.
