The Loeries 2019 official rankings provide a comprehensive overview of the performance across the advertising and brand communications industry throughout Africa and the Middle East based on performance at the Loeries 2019 Awards. This year’s award held in Durban in August.

About the Loeries

The Loeries (The Loerie Awards Company NPC) is a non-profit company that administers awards to the brand communications industry, in Africa and the Middle East. For over 40 years, they have been pushing, championing and sharing creativity and innovation. It is focused on not just awarding but recognising creative brilliance. Their goal is to make people feel something, question and rethink their ways of doing. It’s about telling better stories. Stories that provoke conversation, challenge traditions, end stereotypes, celebrate humanity, tear racial divides, embrace the culture and change the world.

About Loeries Official Rankings

The Loeries Official Rankings offer a comprehensive overview of the annual performance across the brand communications industry throughout Africa and the Middle East. The rankings list the top brands and agencies, as well as special focus areas and individual performance in key areas. Here’s the exact methodology used to create the list:

  1. A credited brand gets full points, irrespective of the entering agency
  2. Points are given for each award. Here are how the points were awarded:
  • 300 points for Grand Prix
  • 110 points for Gold
  • 40 points for Silver
  • 15 points for Bronze
  • 90 points for Craft Gold
  • 30 points for Craft Certificate
  • 5 points for finalists (to a maximum of 45 points for finalists).
  1. All campaign categories were awarded 1.5 times the points.
  2. Single entries (Type A) that are combined into one campaign award during judging received 1.5 times the points.
  3. Where more than one company has been credited for anyone credit, the points were divided equally between the parties.
  4. Where more than one individual has been credited for anyone credit, each individual got full points.
  5. A person was only awarded points for the most senior creative position, even if his/her name is listed in multiple creative credits.
  6. As long as there is one name per credit, then each credit got full points.
  7. A company didn’t receive points as both an agency and as a production company.
  8. Production companies received points from international craft entries; however, agencies did not receive any points.
