It has recently been announced that Confectionery Company Ferrero USA appointed Terri & Sandy its U.S creative agency for its hazelnut cocoa spread brand Nutella. The appointment of the independent shop comes after a very competitive review. The review started in February and according to reports, Terri& Sandy beat out five other agencies to win the account. It is unclear which other agencies competed for the account.
Terri & Sandy will be taking over Nutella’s account from Omnicom’s Merkley & Partners. Merkley & Partners declined to comment so it is unclear if the creative agency pitched to defend the account. It is also unclear if the creative agency will be working with Ferrero in any capacity. Before the account was handed over to the independent agency, Merkley & Partners handled the account for a decade.
Terri & Sandy is Nutella’s U.S Creative Agency of Record
Terri & Sandy will now handle all creative, strategy and execution for Nutella’s U.S. business. Nutella’s media and public relations business will continue to be handled by Omnicom Media’s PHD and Interpublic Group of Cos.’ Golin, respectively.
Terri & Sandy and Nutella Speak on the New Partnership
Sandy Greenberg the CEO of the independent creative agency spoke about winning the account. She talked about how the latest win was the only win that impressed her teenage daughter. Her daughter is a huge fan of the hazelnut spread. According to Greenberg, their goal as an agency will be to create many more devotees in America like her daughter. According to Greenberg, their plan is very clear, It is to build on the brand’s breakfast heritage. She stated that the agency has no doubt that their work with the brand will make a bold statement for Nutella
Todd Midura the vice president of marketing for Nutella North America also spoke about the new partnership. He talked about how the brand has a fun and special relationship with consumers. Midura stated that the brand is constantly looking at innovative approaches to engage its fanbase and reach new users. They believe their partnership with the independent creative agency will allow them to achieve that.
