Stanbic IBTC Bank recently launched an integrated marketing campaign. The campaign was launched to help promote its Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) application, with the dedicated code, *909#. The campaign was launched on the Monday 9th of September 2019 and will run throughout the month.

About Stanbic IBTC Bank’s *909# USSD Code

The Stanbic IBTC Bank’s *909# USSD works like every other bank’s USSD codes. It allows customers to carry out transactions without internet connection. With the USSD code, customers can access wallet and banking services such as (inter and intra bank transfers, airtime purchase, check balance, account opening and loans) while offering purchase of mutual funds & pensions.

About Stanbic IBTC Bank’s Campaign to Promote *909# USSD Code

The campaign is a reward campaign and will see the bank rewarding its customers who use the USSD code to carry out transactions. Customer will get to enjoy rewards throughout the month of September. Some of the rewards include additional airtime when the customer uses the USSD code to buy airtime. On the day, the campaign was launched, customers got to enjoy an additional 90.9% value on airtime purchased from 9.09 – 9.39am.

Customers will continue to enjoy the rewards from 10th to 30th of September. Customers will be rewarded with 9.09% additional airtime when they recharge with *909# from 9.09 -9.39am and pm respectively.

Stanbic IBTC Bank Speaks on the Campaign

Wole Adeniyi, Deputy Chief Executive at Stanbic IBTC Bank spoke about the campaign. He mentioned that it is important for the bank to embark on an integrated marketing and communication campaign highlighting *909#. He described the USSD code as a financial freedom vehicle for all Nigerians to access seamless financial services.  According to Adeniyi, the campaign is open to every Nigerian that can legally own a bank account.

It was strategically created to set to start on September 9 -909 to reinforce the top of mind awareness with the general public. He also spoke about why the code is so unique, he stated that it is the only USSD which covers a wide range of mobile financial transactions. The code is not only restricted to banking. The code is also very intuitive and designed around the needs of the average Nigerian.
