Samsung went all out for its Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event. The event was held to celebrate the ten year anniversary of its Galaxy line. At the event, Samsung announced a wealth of new devices that it would be releasing soon. The devices ranged from smartphones, earbuds, smartwatches and fitness trackers. Here’s everything that was announced at the Samsung Galaxy unpacked event.
Samsung Galaxy Fold
Let’s start with the biggest and most ambitious announcement. The electronic brand announced that it will be releasing a new foldable Android pie phone called the Samsung Galaxy fold. The device is a 4.6-inch front display with a folding 7.3-inch tablet-size Infinity Flex display. The screen is so big that it allows for three-app multitasking. The phone also has app continuity which allows you to instantly pick up where you left off when switching between screens. The device is the best of both worlds, it fills the role of a phone and tablet. It has 6 cameras, 3 at the back, 2 on the inside and one in front. The phone also supports 5G optionally and would go on sale from the 3rd of May in Europe and on the 26th of April in the US. The phone’s price will start at $1980.
Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus and S10e
Another big announcement made at the event is the new Galaxy S10 family phones, the S10, S10 plus and S10e.
- Samsung Galaxy S10
It is the flagship phone of the family, it has a refreshed design and a punch-hole in the screen for the 10MP front-facing camera. The phone has some amazing features. One of the phone most notable features is that it has the world’s first ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built into is display. The phone goes for about $899.
- Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus
This phone is the slightly higher specced phone of the family. It has a larger screen, bigger better and larger storage than the S10. It also has a second front-facing camera which gives it a more pill shaped
- Samsung Galaxy S10e
This is the more compact and more affordable phone in the family. Unlike its other siblings, the phone has two cameras at the back. The phone will start at $799.
All the phones are already available for pre-order and will go on sale from the 8th of March.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active
This watch is way lighter and more comfortable than its predecessor. It doesn’t have the signature rotating bezel for a lightweight, aluminium build and redesigned strap. It has a round face, a heart rate monitor and is water resistant to depths of 50 meters. The watch can also track sleep and it runs on Tizen OS 4.0 with a new glanceable UI. It will go on sale on the 8th of March for $229.
Samsung Galaxy Fit / Galaxy Fit E
The Galaxy Fit is also another light device, it weighs about 24 g. Just like Watch Active, it monitors your heart rate and is waterproof. It can automatically six different exercises and can track sleep and stress. The Galaxy Fit E is smaller and lighter, it weighs 15g. It has a
