Multichoice Talent Factory Launches West African Academy in Nigeria

Multichoice Talent Factory has launched its West African Academy in Lagos Nigeria. A 12-month training programme at the academy which will begin as from this month and it will admit 20 candidates.

What Is 12 -Month Programme All About?

The programme was designed to develop the talents of students while also connecting the students with industry professionals. At the end of the programme students, would have gained the knowledge and skills to adequately contribute to the film and television industry.

The comprehensive curriculum will provide the students with the opportunity to gain in-depth technical knowledge and hands-on experience in cinematography, film editing, audio production and storytelling. The MTF Academy students will get the opportunity to produce TV and film content, during the programme. The film will be aired on the following local M-Net channels:

  • Africa Magic
  • Maisha Magic East
  • Maisha Magic Bongo
  • Zambezi Magic

 In a statement, the Managing Director, MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe said that he believes that the film and TV industry is the pioneering industry of the creative industries in Africa. He says that he the Tv and film industry is very relevant as a tool for shaping the African narrative. They plan to tell authentic and well-produced stories that are unique to the African people. He says that there’s a lot of raw talent in Africa that needs to be nurtured and polished.  They want the Academy to give this raw talent the opportunity to hone their skills. They hope that when they do this it will help increase the pool of world-class talent within the industry. Multi-choice isn’t just nurturing their candidates’ raw talent. They plan to teach selected candidates the business of film and television.

The Multichoice Talent Factory

The MTF is a social investment initiative aimed at igniting Africa’s creative industries and growing them into vibrant, economic powerhouses. Through the MTF MultiChoice Africa hopes to cement its commitment to enriching lives by developing the art of inspired local storytelling and story making. The Multichoice Talent Factory is located in 3 regions in Africa. The academies are located in Nigeria, Zambia and Kenya.
