LinkedIn Live: LinkedIn Launches a New Live Video Broadcast Service


LinkedIn the professional social network which has about 600 million users globally recently announced that it will be launching LinkedIn Live.  According to the professional social network, the video is the fastest growing format on its platform and they have decided to leverage it by the launch of the new feature. The LinkedIn Live is a new live video broadcast service.

The Linkedin Live service is a live video broadcast service. The service will give users and organizations the ability to broadcast real-time videos to a select group of people. They can also share the videos on the service with the LinkedIn world at large. The professional social network has launched the beta test of the LinkedIn Live service in the U.S. The beta testing of the service will be by invite only, they also plan to post a contact form for people who would also like to participate in the Beta test.

No details have been revealed if, after the beta test, the feature will be available for every user or just premium users alone. The feature can be used to cover conferences, Q&As, product announcements and other events. The initial live content LinkedIn hopes to broadcast on the video broadcast service will line up with the kind of content you will generally see on your news feed.

To further develop video broadcast service, Linkedin has selected several third-party developers of live broadcasting streaming services. Users and creators of these videos can work with these streaming services to create and post a more polished live video on LinkedIn Live. Some of these streaming services are Socialive, Wirecast, Switcher Studio, Wowza Media Systems, and Brandlive. They still plan to add more services to their roster. Microsoft is a technical partner for the video broadcast service, Microsoft’s Azure Media service helped develop the service.
