It looks like foldable smartphones are taking over, Huawei just like its competitors Samsung just recently unveiled a foldable smartphone called the Huawei Mate X. Just last week, Samsung had everyone talking with the announcement of its first foldable. Huawei has followed suit with its Huawei Mate X. The Huawei Mate X is a 5G enabled folding smartphone with a flexible screen that bends around the exterior of the device. Huawei unveiled the new foldable phone at the 2019 Mobile World Congress Barcelona.
What You Need to Know About the Huawei Mate X
Huawei described the smartphone as a new category of mobile devices. The Huawei Mate X has a thin, flexible screen that can be folded to half its size, turning it from a tablet into a smartphone. It has a split screen mode designed for multitasking. With the split screen mode, users can now write emails or handle files while browsing the internet or watching a video. The Huawei Mate X also has a fingerprint recognition sensor which is integrated into the power button. This will allow users to users to securely open the device with just one touch. The Huawei Mate X has a multi-lens Leica camera system which is integrated on the front and back of the device. This ensures that it has the same quality camera for taking selfies as it does for rear-facing images.
With the dual screens, the photographer and the subject can view the photo in real-time from both sides. The Huawei Mate X also has a dual sim (with four integrated 5G antennae) that gives access to 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G network signals across the globe. It has a powerful 4,500 milliamp Hour (mAh) battery, which can charge to 85 per cent in just 30 minutes using the SuperCharge feature. The phone will go for $2,600 which is way more than Samsung’s foldable phone which is $1,980. It will go on sale by summer 2019.
Huawei Speaks on the Huawi Mate X
The CEO, Richard Yu stated that the Mate X’s revolutionary form factor is achieved by Huawei’s relentless effort in research and development. He stated that the phone represents a voyage into the uncharted. Yu explained that to give consumers an unprecedented user experience Huawei combined 5G, a foldable screen, AI and a new mode of interfacing.
