Gerety Awards which was recently launched and announced in January has finally announced its shortlist for the 2019 Awards. The Gerety Award 2019 shortlist comes after a very intense 3-week judging exercise which spanned through 10 cities and involved some of the world’s most esteemed creatives. Even though this is the award shows first outing, they saw numerous entries from more than 30 countries.
About The Gerety Awards
The Gerety Awards is a new awards show which was founded by Joe Brooks and Lucía Ongay. They both previously worked at the Epica Awards as global sales director and global press manager respectively. They both decided to break off from the Epic Awards to create the Gerety Awards, whose goal is to celebrate diversity. The awards show named after copywriter Mary Frances Gerety, who coined the well-known strapline “A diamond is forever” for De Beers in 1948.
About the Gerety Awards 2019 Shortlist
The Gerety Awards 2019 shortlist featured entries from different countries. The countries were: There Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, UK and USA. USA, UK, Germany and Spain were the countries with most entries on the Gerety Awards 2019 shortlist.
- The USA has 37 shortlisted entries
- The UK has 15 shortlisted entries
- Germany has 13 shortlisted entries
- Spain has 13 shortlisted entries
The Most awarded shortlisted networks include BBDO, VMLY&R, Mullen Lowe and Leo Burnett:
- BBDO Network has 27 shortlisted entries
- Mullen Lowe Network has 14 shortlisted entries
- Leo Burnett Network has 15 shortlisted entries
- VMLY&R Network has 14 shortlisted entries
There were 149 shortlisted entries and the Most awarded shortlisted agencies include BBDO New York, Edelman UK, Leo Burnett Toronto and Mullen Lowe SSP3:
- BBDO New York has 14 shortlisted entries
- Edelman has 8 shortlisted entries
- Leo Burnett Toronto has 7 shortlisted entries
- Mullen Lowe SSP3 has 7 shortlisted entries
Most shortlisted campaigns include Petal Paint, for JAT Holdings from Leo Burnett Toronto, Viva La Vulva for Essity Bodyform/Libresse by AMVBBDO, and Fresh Prints for Aldi by McCann Madrid, Spain.
There were no shortlisted entries in the Pharma and Portfolio CUT. According to the Co-founder Lucia Ongay, even though they were some great entries, the jury felt that they were not strong enough. According to Ongay, only the best work will be awarded with a Gerety.
Gerety Awards 2019 Speaks on the Shortlist
Lucia Ongay the co-founder spoke about the shortlist. She talked about the judging sessions and stated that they were very riveting. She stated that there’s no doubt that the shortlist will set a benchmark for all other award shows this year. Ongay also expressed her excitement at seeing what their jury would pick and how it will compare with other industry events.
