Ford who is known to use celebrity actor Bryan Cranston as its celebrity spokesperson recently added a new celebrity to its marketing roster. The brand recently announced that they will be working with British actor Idris Elba. Idris Elba will be working as a creative partner as the work to launch the brand’s all-electric Mustang Inspired SUV. The automaker will unveil the Mustang-inspired SUV on the 17th of November. They will do this in conjunction with the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Ford and Idris Elba Partner to Promote Mustang-inspired SUV
According to reports, the automaker will be leveraging on the fact that Elba worked at a Ford factor in the UK before his acting career took off in the 1980s. Elba will be participating in the official launch and other accompanying launch activities of the vehicle. He will also appear in a global integrated marketing campaign from BBDO.
When asked to disclose details about the integrated campaign, Ford declined to reveal details. They also declined to reveal details about the launch event. A spokesperson confirmed that it will be held at an off-site venue near the L.A. show. Reports are claiming that Ford will most likely use Elba’s history with the brand to promote Mustang-inspired SUV. Andy Georgescu, a Ford product marketing manager spoke about the partnership with the actor. He called him an “authentic partner” when “you match his celebrity with his personal biography.” Georgescu also noted Elba’s interest in street racing as well as “passion for reducing emissions around the world” as two traits that make him the ideal creative partner.
