Eating a heavy meal is the perfect recipe for sending someone into slumber or what we call a food coma. People often joke that they want to eat so much that the fall into a food coma. Apparently you don’t have to eat so much to fall into a food coma, just one of Burger King’s biggest sandwiches will do.

Burger King Mexico Captures People in Food Comas after Eating Its Biggest Sandwiches

One of the restaurant managers at Burger King Mexico City noticed that some of her customers fell into food comas right in the restaurant after eating some of their sandwiches. These customers at Burger King Mexico will fall asleep right in the middle of the restaurant after eating a sizable sandwich from the “King’s Collection”. According to the restaurant manager, the bigger the burger the more she’d catch them sleeping.

When the restaurant manager from the Burger King Mexico spoke to Gustavo Lauria. Gustavo Lauria is the co-founder of one of BK’s agencies We Believers. The restaurant manager mentioned her observation to Lauria and they decided to build an entire campaign around it. They built a campaign around Burger King Mexico post-prandial snoozers.

About the Burger King Mexico Post-Prandial Snoozers Campaign

The Burger King Mexico campaign features a series of print ads. The print ads feature Burger King Customers in total food comas. These customers are serene and slumped over figures of stillness in the centre of a bustling world. We see the burger wrappers spread out before them with scatterings of leftover fries. The copy over each print ad reads “They’re that big.”  In the corners of the ads, there’s additional information about the picture. Information like date, time and restaurant location. These extra details were added because they wanted to prove that the shots were real and genuine.

The print series is being used to promote Burger King Mexico’s King’s Collection. To create the campaign, the agency had to hire a photographer to stake out BK restaurants in Mexico City for an entire month. According to the brand, once the customers woke up, they were approached by the photographer. They were told about the project and offered a release to sign.
