Budweiser to Sponsor England Women’s Football Team

Budweiser the Ab InBev brand recently announced a new sponsorship partnership. Budweiser will be extending its existing partnership with the Football Association to the England women football team. For the first time ever Budweiser will be sponsoring a women’s football team. The beer brand announced that it will be the official sponsors of the England women’s football team on International Women’s Day.

About the Partnership between Budweiser and the England Women’s Football Team

The partnership was signed to run-up to International Women’s Day, this year’s theme was #BalanceforBetter. The theme called for gender balance across the world and across all fields. It seems Budweiser followed through with the theme by sponsoring the England women’s football team. Seeing as the brand’s sister brand Bud Light is the official partner of the England Senior Men’s Team. This latest partnership helps to strengthen the beer brand’s ties with England football. Seeing as the beer brand is the official beer of Wembley.

As the official beer partner of the England women’s football team, they will support the team as they prepare to head to France to participate in the Fifa Women’s World Cup 2019. According to the beer brand, the partnership with the England women’s football team will help to break down social stigmas and barrier for women hoping to enter the sport.  The partnership also ties with the brand’s desire to embrace a more purposeful approach to its sport partnerships.

Budweiser Speaks on the Partnership with the England Women’s Football Team

Paula Lindenberg the president for AB InBev UK and Ireland spoke about the partnership and football. She spoke about how strongly the brand believes in football and how it is more than a game. She talked about how it is a huge part of their culture, how it is a great way to bring people together and why football and Budweiser share a natural affinity. Lindenberg then went to express the brand’s excitement to be taking the brands bond with football to the next level by supporting the incredibly skilful Lionesses (England women’s football team) at this points in their journey.

She also talked about how their values match the Lionesses values perfectly. She spoke about how both the beer brand and the football team champion passion and ambition. Lindenberg threw in the beer brands support for the team, talking about their winning performance in the SheBelieves Cup. Stating that this year will be epic for the football team. She also asked the country to raise a glass and get behind the team.
