Advertising Week Africa to Hold in the First Half of 2020


Advertising Week, the world’s largest annual gathering of advertising, creative, entertainment, marketing, media and technology industry leaders announced its maiden Africa edition earlier this year. They announced that the event will be holding in Johannesburg, South Africa and would be holding in the last quarter of 2019. But because of the xenophobic attacks in South Africa and the related reprisals across several African countries, the Africa-based Advisory Council and other local and international stakeholders agreed to postpone Advertising Week Africa.  Now the organisers have announced a new date for the first edition of Advertising Week Africa. The event is set to hold in the first half of 2020.

The organisers have announced that the maiden edition of the gathering will hold between 11th to 14th of May 2020. Like earlier announced, the event will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa. This will be the first time ever this prestigious gathering will be coming to Africa. Advertising Week Africa is Advertising Week’s sixth global edition and will bring industry professionals together throughout the African continent. It will hold for a week and attendees can expect thoughtful conversations with leaders from the marketing, advertising, technology and creative spaces.

The event will feature thought leadership keynotes, seminars and workshops led by some of the greatest minds in the industry by day, to world-class entertainment in some of the city’s iconic venues by night.

Lance Pillersdorf Speaks on the Gathering

Stillwell President Lance Pillersdorf, a major stakeholder of the event spoke about the event. He stressed the committee’s commitment to launching Advertising Week Africa in Johannesburg. Pillersdorf talked about how from adversity often comes opportunity and they will continue to accelerate all planning and development to ensure the success of Advertising Week Africa in 2020.
