The beer brand launched an app which allows users to transform events of a night out chronicled on a WhatsApp group chat into legendary comics. Beck’s new app is called Heroes of the Night App and the app ensures that every night out remains epic and heroic.

Beck’s Heroes of the Night App allows users to transform their chat histories from a WhatsApp group into a comic. With this the can recreate a great and legendary night out with friends in a unique and epic way. The Heroes of the Night app has over 300 frames, each of them were exclusively created for the app by comic illustrator Matthias Schardt. With the Heroes of the Night app, each member of a WhatsApp group can transform themselves into a comic character. There are about 10 different characters available on the app. Different background scenes and other features are available on the app, they all can be adapted individually.
The beers brand agency Serviceplan Campaign International and Plan. Net Campaign was responsible for the idea and concept development of the ‘Heroes of the Night’ app.

Susanne Koop, the marketing director Germany at Anheuser-Busch InBev spoke about the app. She talked about how the brand continuously seeks out new ways to come into contact with our consumers. The creation of the app gave them one of such ways. She described the app as an app that combines technical know-how and creativity to result in the highly relevant consumer experience.
Markus Kremer and Thomas Heyen, partners and executive creative directors at Serviceplan Campaign International also spoke about the Heroes of the Night app. He stated that the intelligence of the app makes it possible to depict any WhatsApp chat in an extremely authentic way. The app has various locations, times and a varied selection of characters, all these things come together to makes every comic fun.
Markus Maczey, chief creative officer of the Plan.Net Group and managing director of Plan.Net Campaign also spoke about the app. He stated that the main complexity of the programming consisted of bridging the non-existent interfaces of WhatsApp and bringing an entertaining logic to the generated comic.
